Can You Help Police Identify Newcastle Robber?
Staffordshire Police are appealing for witnesses after three robberies in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
One incident occurred at about 2:45pm on Wednesday afternoon (25 January) when a male offender approached a 28-yr-old woman at the ticket machine on Midway Carpark. He pointed a knife at her, telling her to drop her things.
The victim dropped her bag, purse and phone. The offender picked up her purse before running away, out of the carpark in the direction of The Midway.
A member of the public later found the stolen purse on the steps of St Giles Church in Newcastle. However, the contents were missing. (Incident number 396 of 25 January).
At about 9:50am yesterday morning, a male offender approached a female at a cash machine in Windermere Road.
He reached over her shoulder, attempting to steal her purse. The 31-yr-old woman managed to shrug him off but when money was dispensed from the cashpoint, he grabbed it.
The offender ran off along the side of the Co-op, heading towards the Gatehouse, then on towards the Newcastle direction. (Incident number 133 of 26 January).
Just before 10:25am yesterday morning (Thursday) we received a report of a robbery in Paradise Street.
It was reported that a man approached a woman, aged 66, and stole her purse from inside her handbag.
Officers attended and carried out an area search for the suspect but no one was located. The purse was found discarded near the Albion pub. (Incident number 171 of 26 January).
The offender is described as a white man, aged in his 20’s, of slim build and about 5ft 7in tall. He was wearing dark clothing.
An investigation to identify the man is now underway and anyone who recognises his description is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting the relevant incident number, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
