CREWE, PORT VALE AND NEWCASTLE ALL WIN
Crewe Alexandra gained a 2-1 victory over Crawley Town in league 2 at the Alexandra Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Alex took the lead on 72 minutes as Chris Porter scored from the penalty sport, but Town clawed their way back into the match with an equaliser on 84 minutes as Nathan Ferguson also netted from the penalty spot. Crewe though were not finished and Porter scored his second goal of the game on the stroke of full-time to bag all three points for the railwaymen.
Port Vale gained a hard fought 3-2 victory over Forest Green.
The Valiants took the lead on 14 minutes with a goal from Shaun Brisley and doubled their lead with Tom Pope netting on 38 minutes. Pope scored his second of the game on 70 minutes netting from the penalty spot to move Vale into a comfortable 3-0 lead. Carl Winchester struck home a penalty on 78 minutes for Forest Green, then the visitors were reduced to ten men with defender Mitchell Clarke being sent off. The home side then pulled a second goal back as Winchester netted his second goal of the match in the 95th minute, but the action wasn’t finished as Tom Pope was sent off in the 97th minute for a second yellow card after being booked just four minutes earlier.
Newcastle Town are through to the fourth round of the Integro League Cup after a 3-1 victory over Buxton at the Red Industries Stadium.
Town fell behind on 14 minutes with Aaron Chalmers scoring for the visitors, but Newcastle were not behind for long as Kieran Brown equalised two minutes later to level the scores.
Brown, scored his second of the game just before half time on 44 minutes and the game was sealed immediately after the kick off for the second half as Ryan McLean netted for Town on 46 minutes.
