CITY, ALEX, VALE WIN – KIDSGROVE LOSE
Stoke City moved up a place in the Championship league table after a 3-1 victory over Charlton Athletic at the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday.
James McClean opened the scoring on 28 minutes but Purrington equalised on the stroke of half-time to level the score.
Tom Ince put City back in front on 47 minutes with Nick Powell securing the 3-points with a third goal on 66 minutes.
Crewe gained a late goal to take all three points in league 2 against Oldham Athletic.
The visitors took the lead on 48 minutes with a goal from Johnny Smith with Crewe getting back on level terms on 58 minutes with a goal from James Jones.
The two sides looked to be heading for a draw, but Charlie Kirk struck deep into time added on to give Crewe a 2-1 victory at the Alexandra Stadium.
David Worrall celebrated his two-year contract extension with a goal on 72 minutes to give Port Vale a 1-0 victory over Northampton Town at the Sixfields Stadium to move the Valiants into ninth place on the league two table and just outside the play-off positions on goal difference.
Kidsgrove Athletic suffered a 2-0 defeat to Cleethorpes Town in the Bet Victor Northern South East Division with a brace from Scott Vernon as he netted on 18 minutes and 69 minutes.
Despite the defeat Kidsgrove remain in eighth place in the league.
