6 June 2019 Local News

Detectives investigating a serious incident in Stoke-on-Trent last month have made an arrest following a man’s death in hospital.

Officers were called to a report of an assault on the afternoon of Wednesday 8 May at Imperial Court, Hanley where a man sustained severe injuries. Mark McNair, aged 62, was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital where he remained until, sadly, he died on Sunday.

A 49-year-old Stoke-on-Trent man who was arrested at the time, has now been re-arrested on suspicion of murder and released on bail pending further enquiries.       Detective Inspector Alan Lyford, senior investigating officer for Staffordshire Police, said: “This is now being treated as a murder investigation and we would appeal for anyone with information about the circumstances leading up to Mr McNair’s death to contact 101 quoting incident number 504 of 8 May.
