Pathways For Blurton Pupils
Pupils at a school in Blurton celebrated successfully completing an innovative programme, known as Pathways, with a special presentation assembly.
The course, co-ordinated by Staffordshire Police officer, PC Sarah Griffiths, is designed to promote key values such as self-esteem, team work, decision making and communication to year 5 and 6 pupils.
Working in partnership with the West Midlands Ambulance Service, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and The British Army in the West Midlands, a number of workshops have been delivered to Meadows Academy pupils over the last eight weeks.
The inputs have seen the students learn to perform a drill march, encouraging self-discipline and responding to instructions. They have spent time working on projects as a team, understanding how to provide first aid, including CPR, and knowing what information is required if they ever need to contact the emergency services. They have also learnt the importance of having a fire safety plan in place at home, along with the laws and consequences around fires and arson.
