Mother killed and baby injured after car collides with pram

Police said the car collided with the mother and baby in a pram at around 8pm on Sunday in Penge.

The mother, believed to be in her 20s, died at the scene.

The baby boy, believed to be around eight months old, was taken to hospital with injuries described as life-threatening.

The driver of the car stopped and was also taken to hospital, although his injuries are not life-threatening.

Police said the man had not been arrested and was assisting with their enquiries.

They added: "At this early stage officers are working to establish the full circumstances of the incident."
