A 40-year-old man from Meir has been jailed for seven years after he was found guilty of rape.
Scott Onions, of Mollison Road, was also placed on the sex offenders’ register for life.
Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard that police had been called to Weston Road, Meir, early in the morning of 14 July following reports a man was forcing a woman to perform a sex act on him.
Officers arrested Onions on suspicion of rape.
Onions said he had been smoking monkey dust with the woman but said she had consented to the act.
He was found guilty following a trial and sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on 2 November.
Detective Constable Ann Blairs, the officer in the case, said: “This was a very serious offence and Onions will serve a prison sentence for what he has done.
“I’m grateful to the witness who alerted us to the offence taking place, as well as the bravery of the victim to come forward and have confidence in us to bring this case before the courts.”
