Stoke Speedway – STOKE v COVENTRY – PREVIEW (SATURDAY)
STOKE return to action at their Loomer road base when they entertain Coventry Bees’ in the Travel Plus National League on Saturday night, 7pm.
The Potters have drafted in Belle Vue’s Tom Perry as a replacement for Tony Atkin while Buxton’s Connor Coles comes in for Max Clegg who’s on Championship duty with Edinburgh. The Potters also give a debut to David Wallinger who returns to the Potters after starting the season with Buxton.
The Bees’ have Connor Mountain leading them into action and he will be well supported by former Potter Jon Armstrong and Luke Ruddick along with another former Stoke rider in Danny Phillips with Jamie Halder completing the top five. At reserve the Coventry septet are Luke Harris and another former Potter in Ryan MacDonald.
The two sides have already met this season when the Potters lost out to the Bees’ 52-38 at the Bees’ temporary home at Leicester at the beginning of the season.
Stoke assistant manager Adam Isherwood commented “It will be a tough meeting, but we have a good side out on track ourselves with Tom Perry coming in for Tony Atkin and Connor Coles in for Max Clegg and I believe we are capable of getting a result against Coventry who will of course be looking to do the double over us and have riders who ride our track well in Connor (Mountain), Danny Phillips and of course Jon Armstrong so we will need to be on our toes early on as we look to get 3 points on the board.”
