Almost £3,000 has been raised for the UK Police Memorial Fund after big crowds enjoyed Staffordshire Police’s Open Day this weekend.
On Sunday 3rd June the force welcomed over 9,000 visitors to their headquarters in Stafford for the event, established to give the public insight and better understanding of the work they do alongside their partners to keep people safe.
Visitors were able to see and speak to staff and officers from all areas of the force, see live demonstrations and take part in experiences, plus much more.
Lead organiser Tony Lungrin, said: “It was a fantastic event and I was delighted to see colleagues pulling together to ensure it ran as smoothly as possible. I had lots of feedback praising the event and wider appreciation of what we as the police do within Staffordshire’s communities.”
Chief Constable Gareth Morgan, said: “The event was a great success and I would like to thank everyone for their involvement – staff, officers, cadets, specials and volunteers as well as our partner agencies – all of whom came together to give the public insight into what we do, in a fun and engaging way. I never underestimate the opportunities this event provides, to engage with the people we serve and maintain a trust in policing that is so vitally important.”

“My little boy loved it. Especially the cars and sirens!”
“What a fabulous day! Our first time, my little boy loved it! It was well organised, no problem parking or getting shuttle bus. Staff were so helpful and friendly despite the heat. So much for the children and adults to be involved in. Definitely return next year! Thank you.”
“Well done Staffordshire Police, we had a fab day even my moody teenager enjoyed it…..not that he will admit to that.”
“A great day for my 4 little ones. Very hot and super busy and I feel for all the staff that were fully kitted out in their uniforms! I especially feel for Kash the dog! Everyone was brilliant despite the heat and how busy it was. Clean toilets, bins emptied regularly, great layout. Excellent to meet PD Cooper also! Very well done. Staffordshire Police, you should be proud!”
“Great day, organisation was fantastic. Shuttle bus service was great. The staff had time for the kids which made it special for both a 15 year old and a 2 year old. Thought we would only be there for an hour but ended up staying all day. Well done to all involved a great family day out.”
The money for the UK Police Memorial Fund was raised through personal donations, contributions from food and profits from souvenir stalls. Monies raised will go towards creating a new memorial at the National Arboretum in Staffordshire that will pay tribute to officers and staff from the police service who have died while carrying out their duties.
