Four people have been arrested following a firearms deployment in Newcastle-under-Lyme last night (11 April).

Armed officers were called to Bath Road at around 7.40pm after we received reports that the occupants of a grey Mercedes saloon were seen with what was described as a “handgun”.

Two men, aged 29 and 40, and a 32-year-old woman, all from the Coventry area, were later stopped in Solihull and arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill and possession of a firearm.

In addition, a 51-year-old man from Newcastle-under-Lyme was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit threats to kill. A firearm was recovered during the incident.

DCI David Wain from Staffordshire Police, said: “This was a co-ordinated response working alongside officers from West Midlands Police and the Central Motorway Police Group.
