Youngsters excel at Auditions

Youngsters from Stoke-on-Trent found out if they were successful in auditioning for their school’s first ever musical this week.

More than 80 students auditioned for the Cast of Annie.

The production will take place at the Excel Academy, Sneyd Green, in the summer.

The 48 successful students will now be busy in rehearsals until the production in the final week of the summer term.

From tough competition, Freya Baddeley took the role of Annie.  Freya is no stranger to the stage.  Not only does she regularly compete in street dance competitions but last year appeared in Oliver with 5 towns theatre productions.

Richard Harvey, Assistant Principal at the Excel Academy, said: “Our performing arts students always work hard, but the standard of audtitions for our first ever musical was phenomenal.   Now it’s time to put in the hard work over the next four months, rehearsing for our opening night on July 10th.”
