Two men arrested following large fight in city centre

Police have arrested two men following a large fight in Stoke-on-Trent city centre in the early hours of this morning (5 February).
The fight occurred outside a nightclub on Stafford Street, Hanley, shortly after 2am. On arrival of officers, the offenders took off in a red BMW. Whilst attempting to stop the vehicle, one officer was dragged a short distance down the road.
The vehicle then collided with a set of traffic lights and the men made off on foot before being arrested. A large quantity of cash and some drugs were recovered from the vehicle.
Thankfully, the officer involved only sustained minor bruising and he is receiving the appropriate support and welfare.
A 30-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent was arrested on suspicion of assault actual bodily harm and possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply. The second man, a 31-year-old, also from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of being unfit to drive through drink/drugs, assault of a police officer, dangerous driving and possession with intent to supply.
Both offenders remain in police custody at this time and enquiries are on-going.
