Cannabis farm uncovered in former nightclub
3 January 2018 Local News
A large scale cannabis farm has been uncovered in a former nightclub in Burslem following a raid in the early hours of this morning (3 January).
Police officers responded to calls of suspicious activity at the old Heaven and Hell nightclub on Waterloo Rd at around 1.30am. A police patrol attended and forced entry into the premises where they discovered more than 700 plants, with a street value of £420,000.
Inspector Mark Churton from Stoke North Local Policing Team, said: “This is a significant drugs find in the north of the city. We have found a sophisticated set up across three floors of the building, with over 700 plants found. This was clearly a well organised and professional set up.
“The cost of equipment used to cultivate the plants would run into thousands of pounds. We will now have the location forensically examined and make enquires to establish who is responsible for the grow.
“We are committed to tackling drug crime in our communities and will continue to take positive action against those who engage in such activity.
“If you have any concerns or suspicions about drugs in your community please call 101 or speak to your local PCSO – or you can leave the information anonymously by calling the free Crimestoppers number 0800 555 111.”
