Police investigating Stoke-on-Trent fire

2 October 2017 Local

Working with our partners, we have commenced an investigation into the circumstances of the fire on the weekend.

Initial reports of the fire were received at around 6am on Sunday 1 October and following an investigation by Fire and Rescue Service (FARS) investigators, it appears that the cause of the fire was accidental.

However we are commencing an investigation with FARS and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), and with the full support of Stoke-on-Trent City Council, into the circumstances of the fire and the fire safety provisions within the building.

Detective Chief Inspector David Giles, who is leading the investigation, said: “Whilst we are focused on the investigation, our thoughts are with the three patients at this time. We have specially trained officers supporting the wider family through this difficult time.”

If you know anything about this incident, please contact 101 quoting incident number 134 of 1 October or for guaranteed anonymity call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
